for Marine applications
Staerg specializes in Heavy Duty DC switches, mainly for 12-48V
High-side switching. As
a typical example, our products are used as battery main switch on
trucks with parallel battery bank output up to 4000 CCA .
However our core design takes into account the requirements of the Marine applications. More specifically for motor yachts, after numerous talks with major yacht builders in France, Italy, UK, Australia, we have integrated, inside each battery switch, the following functions:
Circuit breaker to protect battery and cables in case of short-circuit, to avoid fire. Optional starter OC protection.
Roll and Pitch sensor.
CAN Bus interface, and LED output for stand-alone mode.
Our switches are solid state, no moving parts, no air, ultra-high
reliability, ultra-low voltage drop 80 micro-ohm。
Each engine's HOUSE/AUX battery, STARTER battery, Alternator, can be
split or common line.

External VSR- or LVD- modules are in general not necessary. )
The products are explosion-proof certified to IEC60079 ( far exceeding ISO8846/SAE J1171 marine ). Even the input side is protected by automatically switching OFF (open) when a battery is replaced.
They are scalable for required voltage and current ratings, within one and same format. The system you build can be decentralized and precisely dimensioned; 1 product for 1 battery/bank. Small size makes it easy to install adjacent to the battery, for minimum cable lengths and maximum safety.
We do not make radio-frequency controls, custom control switch panels or graphic displays. We can adapt our CAN Bus -related software, and provide customized wiring harnesses. Configuration modes for CAN Bus set-up, should be carefully co-designed.
We also provide solutions for 5-25kW DC motor drives.
